- Painting was a delightful discovery a few years before my retirement and I have become more serious about it in the last two years. Nature is my inspiration as well as elements of the built environment that inhabit the same space. Living in New Mexico for more than 30 years has etched its beauty and spirit indelibly in my soul. For my first show in 2008, I did a series of paintings - Discovering Oklahoma, 2007 - to celebrate the state's centennial. That exploration engendered a new sense of place in me, giving me infnite new landscapes to discover. I love these landscapes, and they are SO Oklahoma - Is that Wichita Mountains?
Teh mountains in the background of the buffalo painting are indeed the Wichita Mountains.
